Mission to Braeriach

Friday saw the end of the 5 day winter mountaineering course with tollymore. We decided to round the week off with a journey into Braeriach. Aswell as the Lee, Paul, Ernie and Tom, we also had the company of Colie, the Tollymore chef, who had decided to tag along for a day out in the hills before he headed back home. It was a very mixed day wether wise, we started of with sun, then showers, more sun, before a total loss in visibility and even abit of snow! We made our way in and along the Lairig Gur as far as the pools of Dee, then after a quick stop for lunch headed up to gain the ridge which lead us towards the Braeriach summit. As we began our Journey back out an old sports injury got the better of Colie and we dropped back into the Lairig Ghru to make use of the path, as he was having quite a bit of trouble with his ankle. With our drop in speed it turned out to be a pretty long day, arriving back at the car park just before 7pm. Once back in the accomodation Colie was straight into the kitchen, and had whipped up an amazing dinner (as usual) for everyone. After such a long day I would have hated the thought of having to start cooking for myself, never mind 14 people, so my hat comes off to him, LEGEND!
