Scottish Winter

When it comes to winter climbing, Scotland is probably not the first place that springs to mind, with ice climbing trips to the continent and further afield being a popular choice for many winter climbers. If you like your adventures a little closer to home however, then Scotland is for you.

Although they lack the height and scale of the greater ranges, the Scottish Highlands in winter are as challenging as many of the other mountainous regions throughout the world. What they lack in size they certainly make up for with the variety of weather conditions experienced on a typical day out. Whilst this serves as a deterrent for many a fair weather mountaineer, the rewards of a good day out in Scottish winter continues to draw hundreds of mountaineers to the Highlands each year. With Jonnyparrclimbing you can join them!
