Another day chasing winter!!
February 28, 2012
Today was day 2 of the winter mountaineering course for tollymore. We headed up into t-sneachda,where winter looked like it was well and truely gone!! The remaining snow to be found in the corrie was over by the point 5 area, and was prefect for what we were looking to do. The aim was to look at how to use a rope to provide security when the terrain gets a bit steeper, or more technical. The guys paired up and we pitched from the start of the snow up to the corrie rim, providing four pitches, with a good mix of terrain, and a chance to look at both snow and rock anchors, there was even some ice good enough to take screws! Once at the top we had a look at snow bollards and abseiling, before making our way back to the corrie floor and then home for tea and cakes! Another good day in the bag.
